
Adele Mara (April 28, 1923 (April 28, 1923 - May 7, 2010 in the USA) was an American actress and singer. She was a part of films during the 1940s and 1950s and also on television in the 1950s and 1960s. Adele St. Mara became her official name, and she was offered a contract from Columbia Pictures[citation necessaryto be cited. She was able to work in comedy shorts and features for the studio's "B". In the end, the name was changed to Adele Mara. One of her early roles was that of a receptionist the Three Stooges film I Can Hardly Wait. Mara Brooks and Leslie Brooks were the sisters of Rita Hayworth in the Fred Astaire movie You Were Never Lovelier. In Alias Boston Blackie (1942) she takes on the leading female role as the daughter of an escapee and wrongfully accused prisoner. The film was released by Republic Pictures after her Columbia contract was ended. She was employed in westerns and outdoor adventures. [citation needed] She starred in The Vampire's Ghost, Wake of the Red Witch featuring John Wayne, Angel In Exile (leading woman), Sands of Iwo Jima in which John Agar's love interestwas played by her, California Passage and Don Siegel's Count the Hours.
